Stacie Paxton Cobos, associate dean for communications and marketing, is a trusted advisor and proven communications leader with a unique blend of experience across nonprofit, corporate, government, and media.
Stacie joined Johns Hopkins after spearheading communications as chief communications officer at the Bezos Earth Fund, the world’s largest philanthropic commitment ($10 billion) to climate and nature protection. She directly advised Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sánchez, and the CEO on communications and marketing, elevating the Fund’s global profile and influence.
Earlier, Stacie led communications at the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), where she revitalized the organization’s brand and communications strategy, strengthening fundraising and expanding its global reach. Stacie also held executive-level positions with The Climate Reality Project, advising former Vice President Al Gore on communications, and Hill & Knowlton Strategies where she headed the D.C. public affairs and media training practices.
A veteran political strategist and spokeswoman, Stacie served as national press secretary at the Democratic National Committee, managed communications on three presidential campaigns, and worked on Capitol Hill as a spokeswoman and senior advisor to members of Congress.
Stacie is a frequent speaker and media commentator, featured by outlets including The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Washington Post and at influential events such as C-SPAN, the World Woman Foundation, Upworthy, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
