For more than two decades, Brooke Brower worked at the center of American political journalism — producing and leading coverage at ABC News, CNN, and MSNBC that shaped how millions understood elections, policy, and the institutions of democracy. As Director of the Democracy Reform Primer Series, he’s focused on translating complex governance challenges into accessible, actionable, evidence-based frameworks for policymakers, practitioners, and the public to consider.
Before joining Johns Hopkins, he was the executive producer of ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, leading the program as the number one Sunday public affairs show among total viewers and earning several Emmy nominations. Previously at CNN, he was the managing editor of the top digital political news source across multiple election cycles, serving tens of millions of unique visitors monthly. Before that, Brower launched and led two programs with NBC News Political Director Chuck Todd at MSNBC in addition to producing special coverage for debates, town halls, conventions, and elections.
Brower is a former term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has taught at both Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies and Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, from which he received a master’s degree after earning a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
